Native cultures have long recognized and celebrated the interrelatedness of all life on Earth. As we address environmental disasters that affect our oceans, this wisdom is more important than ever. Join us at Living Earth/Living Waters as Native and non-Native scientists, leaders, and innovators discuss the latest research on the biosphere. Gain a deeper understanding of the essential role the ocean—“the blue heart of the planet”—plays in sustaining every form of life. See how human activity is woven into this fragile web of life, and the role we all can play in restoring and preserving it for future generations.  Stay for our rock concert featuring Ivan Neville’s band, Dumstaphunk.   Most indigenous people have traditional songs, stories, legends, dreams, methods and practices to transmit specific human elements of traditional knowledge. Sometimes it is preserved in artifacts handed from father to son or mother to daughter. In indigenous knowledge systems, there is usually no real separation between secular and sacred knowledge and practice - they are one and the same. In virtually all of these systems, knowledge is transmitted directly from individual to individual.   Ocean Revolution has many sources of information that are updated on a daily basis.  {youtube}ngrZ7r0XA7M{youtube) The "Tipping Point" by Leo Murrary on Vimeo "Oceans and climate are inextricably linked and oceans play a fundamental role in mitigating climate change by serving as a major heat and carbon sink. Oceans also bear the brunt of climate change, as evidenced by growing acidification, sea level increase, and changes in temperature and currents, all of which in turn impact the health of marine species, ecosystems, and our coastal communities. As concerns about climate change increases, the interrelationship between oceans and climate change must by recognized, understood, and incorporated into climate change policies." The statement above is from a "Blueprint for a Coastal and Ocean Policy for the New Administration "authored and supported by 48 Ocean Environmental groups. If you'd like to read the complete document find it posted in our news section. As our nation heads into a period of radical change it is clear that every group that intends to change our course needs to radicalize its stand on Global Warming or none of us are going to make it to the Global Future we envision. We urge you to press for the policy changes and goals expressed by 350.org and the Youth Climate Movement on a local and global scale as we all find ways to reduce our own carbon footprints in our daily lives. “Canal del Infiernillo y esteros del territorio Comcaac (Xepe Coosot)” (29,700 hectares) traditional Comcáac Territory between Taheöjc (Isla Tiburon) and the mainland has been designated by RAMSAR as "wetlands of International Importance." Ocean Revolution activist Thor Morales was responsible for most of the co-ordination for this joint effort between the Comcáac, CONAP, ISLA, and Ocean Revolution funded by a grant from The Christensen Fund
