Andrea Marshall a PhD student at The University of Queensland, Australia, has been based in Mozambique since 2003. Her PhD research examines the population ecology of manta rays (Manta birostris) in Inhambane Province to address fundamental questions about their biology and habits. See Andrea's research at the Manta and Whale Shark Website
Simon Pierce, also a PhD student at UQ in Australia, has been researching whale sharks (Rhincodon typus) in Mozambique since 2005. His research questions focus around the ecology and biology of these enormous fish, such as their population size and structure, migratory patterns and demographic parameters. Until next summer Ocean Revolution is helping fund The Manta and Whale Shark Reseach Centre's conservation initiative. In 2008 Ocean Revolution divers will spend 4 weeks at the Centre (located at Casa Barry in Tofo Beach) assisting with research and education and bringing their diving skills to new levels. The Manta and Whale Shark Research Centre is a key element in the growth of BitTonga Diver and Ocean Revolution Mozambique.
